YWCA Toronto’s Inspirations Studio potters Claire, Natasha, and Susan share how working with clay has helped them build confidence, community, and creative purpose. As they shape clay, it shapes them in return, holding stories of growth, care, and empowerment.
Clay Remembers is a short documentary that follows the personal journeys of Claire, Natasha, and Susan, members of YWCA Toronto’s Inspirations Studio, a ceramics program for women and gender-diverse people who have experienced marginalization. The Studio offers more than creative space. It provides community, income opportunities, and a path toward healing.

Through intimate interviews and poetic visuals, the film reveals how clay, a material that remembers every touch and impression, becomes a vehicle for growth, self-expression, and recovery. As each participant molds their work, they reflect on the ways creativity has helped them rebuild their lives with strength and purpose.

Clay Remembers offers an intimate glimpse into a supportive creative community, and the ways art can foster confidence, connection, and meaningful change.
