Eighty Thousand Steps
What if you could walk into a story?

Welcome to an immersive experience that moves you—literally. EIGHTY THOUSAND STEPS is a first-of-its-kind embodied story that asks you to walk beside a refugee.

From CBC Radio-Canada and Stitch Media, a new trailblazing participatory app that marries form and content in an innovative twist. You power this story, one step at a time. Stop walking, and the story stops too. It only plays because of your commitment to keep going. Giving voice to the migrant experience, it is about women taking charge over their stories, across generations. Poignant and inspirational, it features original music, illustrations, and animations.

Follow creator Crystal Chan as you solve a mystery. The mystery unfurls through audio clues, including 3D sound. After walking, you unlock bonus interactions that help you solve the mystery, showing the real-life parallels behind the fantasy. When she unravels a fantastical fable filled with monsters and strange landscapes, you learn the shocking truth behind her grandmother’s escape from China.
